I'm back on another Fabulous Friday with an update for all my peeps!
I can't wait to hear all about your week as well! Some of this may be repetitive but if you didn't read my last few posts or watch the video blog, this will all be news to you. If you did, then you rock!
Monday I had a great weigh in. I lost four pounds last week. I'm really excited about this Monday coming! I think I'm really going to see some great results.
Tuesday I met with my surgeon! It kinda brings it all home, doesn't it? I've been having feelings of anxiety about submitting to insurance and thinking what if it doesn't work out! Is that normal? Did any of you experience that when the clock started winding down? So Dr. Mitchell seems really great! He has a straight forward but really nice manner about him. He's not bad to look at either.
So I went in there guns loaded, I had my stuff together and I was on the spot baby! The first thing he said when he sat down in the exam room was "what questions do you have for me?" So I started with all my Lap-Band questions. He sat there. He let me finish. After I gave my spill I said, "Well I did want to go over the band vs. the RNY with you and at least get your opinion regarding my choice of procedure." What he said to me was "Kathy, when a patient comes in with a BMI in the range of yours, I try to guide them in the right direction. Basically getting the band with a BMI in your range would be like taking a cough drop for strep throat. Mostl likely, you won't lose all the weight you need to." He said he really felt that I needed to go with the Roux en-y gastric bypass, but that it was my choice. So I spoke with my husband and my mom, and I prayed about it, and I've decided that's the route I'm going to take. The last couple of days I've really been trying to learn all I can about it so that I can be more prepared in EIGHT WEEKS when surgery day gets here!
While all that was still swimming in my head, I spoke with the program specialist who, like everyone else I met in the office, was very nice. We scheduled my information session and my meeting with the NUT. I'm waiting on a call to schedule my psyc evaluation, and a cardiology clearance and I'll be set. I already have next month's appointment scheduled for February the 5th and it looks like my last appointment of the six month period will be March the 5th. When I leave there, I'll head to the surgeon's office with my worksheet, and we'll submit to the insurance company and wait! That's it!
He gave me the pre-op diet and suggested that I start it now. He'd like me to get my BMI down so that I don't have to take two shots a day of the blood thinner. If I can get it where he wants it, I'll only have to take one a day, when the time comes. I'm going to do another post with the diet for those of you who are wondering what it's like.
On Wednesday, I went and had a pedicure with my friend.
I had some good much needed laughs. I got my hair cut and my brows waxed and took my fitbit to the grocery store to pick up food for my hubby and the items I needed to start the pre-op diet! You'd be surprised how many steps you get when you go shopping. By the time I got home from all that my head was more clear and I felt more certain about the decision I'd made. I went to church and my soul was fed. I soaked it up like a sponge, and I came home with an overwhelming peace. No one knows me like God does, and he can soothe me every time. After church I made another video for the vlog where I shared some of what I've shared with you in this post. I went to bed with my mind set on not looking back!
Thursday I hit 5,000 steps, FINALLY!! Oh my goodness, ya'll. When I got my fitbit and I saw the goal of 10K a day, I was like, "No problem!" Shoot. So I set a more realistic goal of 5K, and I made it! I've been walking around the field behind my house. I can only go around twice right now, but I do it at least twice a day. As I sit here and type this, my back and butt and thighs are killing me! It's a good kinda hurt tho! One I haven't felt in a really long time!
Tonight we are meeting with friends for chili and cornbread. I'll behave.
Look for my weigh in post, so you can see if all this has paid off!
