Fabulous Friday!

Anyone reading this live in the beautiful Low Country of South Carolina? If so, then you know that today, right smack dab in the middle of January, we are at a lovely 76°! Today is a Fabulous Friday, because I have lost four pounds since Monday! Wha wha wha what!! Ya heard me!!

My post today is a request for input and advice, and hopefully some sincere guidance from YOU!!
I have had my heart set on gastric banding since I decided to have Bariatric surgery. I know that my success depends on me. So maybe all this uncertainty I'm feeling, is because I'm a little insecure about it? I don't know. I've been reading blog after blog and they have really helped me get motivated!! A lot of them, however have made me question my decision on the gastric banding over the RNY bypass. I'm seeing so many people that aren't having the success with the band the way people are with the bypass. On the other hand I hear how bypass patients often gain all the weight back. I'm afraid to fail. I've worked my BUTT off before with out the help of a  band or surgery, only to gain the weight back! It's a horrible feeling.

What do ya'll think? I'm going in to see my surgeon on Tuesday. I'm going to discuss both surgeries in depth with him and ask him to recommend one, but I'd love to hear your opinions as well. I feel that ultimately the weight loss may be slower with the band, but the long term affects and ability to keep it off will be much better. While the weight loss with the bypass is fast, what's to keep my stomach from stretching and allowing my hunger to grow again?

  1. For me, I chose the Lap-band because it doesn't mess with my digestion. To me it does no good to be thin and sick. I have had people in my life who got bypass and they are sicker then I am at 300 pounds. As far as the rate at which you lose weight, I have always agreed with the statement of "It took you ____ number of years to put the weight on, you can't expect it to come off in a day". The decision that is best for you is which ever you think you can live with. Just remember, the slower the weight comes off the longer you keep it off, statistically that is!
